Larry the Cable Guy was among the popular comedians in the early 2000s who appealed to “regular” Americans. His popular catchphrase, “Git-‘r-done!,” became a rallying cry for hard work and grit. The beloved stand-up comic, 63, was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery, just a few years after an Internet death hoax. Keep reading for all the details.
Larry The Cable Guy, 63, Rushed To Hospital For Emergency Surgery
Larry the Cable Guy teamed up with fellow comedians Bill Engvall, Ron White and Jeff Foxworthy as part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour that probably came to a town near you between 2000 and 2006. The foursome also took their act to television in the sketch series Blue Collar TV.

Larry the Cable Guy – born Daniel Lawrence Whitney – also voices the iconic Mater from the Cars movie franchise. In recent years, he appeared on The Masked Singer and had an uncredited role on Yellowstone. However, things haven’t been so funny for the comedian lately. He was rushed to the hospital after feeling under the weather.
The incident happened in July after falling ill in Lincoln, Nebraska. Larry the Cable Guy underwent emergency surgery. He shared an update with fans on social media at the time:
- Getting a lot of messages so just to let ya know I’m all good. I had major stomach pain and turns out I had appendicitis [My appendix] was removed and after 2 days in the hospital I’m home and recovering. Pretty sore but vitals good, my butt looks fantastic.

CBS Reveals Fate Of American Mayhem
Larry the Cable Guy was released from the hospital in good spirits. However, CBS was forced to pause production on American Mayhem due to the medical emergency. The new syndicated series is CBS’ answer to America’s Funniest Home Videos. Larry the Cable Guy hosts the clip show of some of the most hilarious viral moments.
However, the comedian’s emergency surgery only temporarily affected the new series. CBS announced recently that American Mayhem is part of its fall lineup. It’s supposed to premiere during the week of September 14, but an official premiere date is still pending.
Finally, the Cable Guy is hitting the road and reuniting with his buddy Jeff Foxworthy. The two are taking their acts to Las Vegas this winter. Moreover, they’re performing at PH Live at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 4.
With a new show coming soon and at least one new tour date, it seems Larry the Cable Guy is completely recovered after having his appendix removed. Stay tuned for more details on American Mayhem.
