Hayden Panettiere was reportedly in rehab and suffered an overdose before her death at age 36.
Page Six obtained a detailed report from the Greenville County Coroner’s Office stating that either Brian or Zach Hickerson claimed Panettiere “was in a drug rehab facility” in Malibu “up until a few weeks ago” before she died in August.
One of the brothers — whose name was redacted in the report — claimed he “had to administer Narcan” to Panettiere before.
The actress’ father, Skip Panettiere, also told authorities his daughter “had recently been released [from] rehab” after spending “two or three weeks” at the treatment facility.

Per the report, Skip said Hayden had “struggled with addiction since her early 20s” and had been “in multiple rehab facilities since that time.” He also spoke about Hayden’s relationship with off-and-on boyfriend Brian, which he described as “nothing but troubled.”
The coroner’s report also mentioned that Hayden “suffered from postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter” and noted that her “addiction issues [had] escalated since then.” (Hayden welcomed daughter Kaya with ex Wladimir Klitschko in 2014.)
Us has reached out to Hayden’s rep for comment.
Hayden’s cause of death was officially revealed on Tuesday, September 22, one month after she was found dead. According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, she died from the “toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol, and Quetiapine.” Her death was determined to be accidental.
“An autopsy was completed by a Board Certified Forensic Pathologist. At autopsy no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death,” read a statement.
A rep for the actress told Us on Tuesday, “The investigation is still ongoing and the case is complex.”
Reports surfaced earlier this month that Hayden’s death was part of a cross-country investigation in Los Angeles and South Carolina, focusing on where the drugs involved may have come from.
Following rumors that the Heroes alum took an oxycodone pill laced with fentanyl, her rep emphasized that the investigation had not concluded yet.
“As reported yesterday by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Hayden’s death remains under investigation pending the completion of toxicology results, despite reports from some outlets stating otherwise,” read a statement on September 15. “Recent reports attributed to unnamed sources are unverified hearsay and have [contributed] to conflicting information that continues to circulate. While we are all eager to find closure and better understand the circumstances surrounding her passing, we must remain patient and allow the investigative process to unfold. The answers we are all seeking will come.”
