Avengers: Doomsday has revealed a closer look at one of its most intriguing characters yet. The new merchandise gives fans a better idea of how Franklin Richards could be depicted in the upcoming Marvel movie.
Funko has unveiled a new Doctor Doom Pop! & Buddy collectible for Avengers: Doomsday. The collectible pairs Doctor Doom with a smaller Franklin Richards figure. The pairing could raise questions about Franklin’s role in the movie.
MCU Film News shared images of the collectible on X. The figure depicts Doctor Doom in his metal armor, green hooded cape, and signature mask. Franklin appears alongside Doom as the companion figure.
The latest reveals add to the growing Avengers: Doomsday mystery
The new collectible offers another merchandise look at Franklin Richards for Avengers: Doomsday. Unlike his infant appearance in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the collectible presents him as a small child. However, Marvel has not confirmed Franklin’s exact age in the upcoming film.
Franklin is the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm in Marvel Comics. He is also one of the family’s most powerful members, with reality-altering abilities that have shaped major comic-book stories. Marvel’s own reading guide highlights several stories where Franklin uses those powers to affect entire realities.
His connection to Doctor Doom also has a long history in the comics. Doom has also developed a complicated relationship with the Richards family, particularly Franklin’s younger sister, Valeria. Marvel’s comics history also places Doom at the center of major multiverse events involving Franklin and his family.
That history makes the Funko pairing interesting, but it does not confirm Doom’s role with Franklin in the movie. The merchandise alone cannot establish whether Doom will target, protect, or manipulate him.
Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday will feature the Fantastic Four following their introduction in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Marvel Studios has confirmed Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will reprise their roles. Kevin Feige has also teased their interaction with the Avengers and X-Men.
The new Funko release therefore adds another detail to the ongoing speculation surrounding the movie. As of now, Franklin’s exact role is one of the film’s biggest unanswered questions.
