Joy Behar was absent from The View again on Tuesday, her fifth straight live episode away, and co-host Whoopi Goldberg confirmed she is still out. The show has not announced a return date.
Joy Behar is still away from The View, and there’s no return date yet
Behar’s seat at the Hot Topics table stayed empty one day before her 84th birthday. “Joy is still out, and Ana [Navarro] is in with us today,” Goldberg said at the top of the show. She offered no further explanation. The absence began last Thursday, when co-host Sunny Hostin told viewers that Behar had dislocated her shoulder. The audience gasped. Hostin said Behar was “recovering and will be back soon,” but gave no date.
Behar’s representative later told Page Six that she “caught a heel backstage.” The rep added that the shoulder was not broken and had been put back in place, and that she is expected to return around the middle of this week. That timeline has not been confirmed on air.
Moreover, Goldberg is away filming the Netflix movie Women Like Us, produced by Barack Obama. With both Goldberg and Behar out, the panel needed new faces in the moderator’s chair. Hostin, a legal expert and former federal prosecutor, moderated on Thursday. She joked that she got the job as “the next oldest” host before settling on “seasoned.” Sherri Shepherd guest co-hosted that day. Sara Haines moderated on Friday while Hostin rejoined the panel. Original co-host Debbie Matenopoulos returned to lead Saturday’s pre-taped Weekend View. Behar normally has Mondays off, so the show did not expect her that day.
Moreover, Joy Behar missed four consecutive episodes in late 2025 after injuring her foot. When she returned, she showed the injury to viewers. Additionally, earlier in 2026, Behar took an extended break to travel to the United Kingdom, where she presented her play My First Ex-Husband on the London stage.
