Prisoners Scribe Writing an Alien Script for Ridley Scott!

Prisoners Scribe Writing an Alien Script for Ridley Scott!

In space, everyone can hear me screaming right now.

THR reports that Aaron Guzikowski, the writer behind Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners, has been tapped to pen a new Alien film for 20th Century Studios and Ridley Scott!

This will be the second time the two have worked together, after Guzikowski worked on Raised by Wolves with Scott, the filmmaker who created the Alien franchise back in 1979.

Before you get too excited, Scott isn’t currently tapped to direct the project. Instead, he’ll produce alongside Michael Pruss via their Scott Free production banner. Scott Aversano will oversee for 20th Century.

We’ll wait to see who ends up directing, but Guzikowski is a fascinating choice to write the script. His work, especially Prisoners, displays exactly the kind of dark, moral underbelly the Alien franchise thrives on. Expect him to pen one mean Alien movie.

Ridley Scott Says His Long-Dead ‘Alien: Covenant’ Sequel Is Back in the Works?!

The outlet also notes that the film is not the sequel to Alien: Romulus that’s in the works. THR also confirms that “the connective tissue, according to sources, is the amoral android played by Michael Fassbender. Fassbender is not attached at this stage.”

We recently reported that Scott was working on a script that continues the story of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. So this news would seem to confirm that. We last left David (Fassbender) taking control of a colony ship with a rather ominous teaser for what was to come. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been dying to see the conclusion to that story, even though I found Covenant to be one of the weaker Alien movies.

What we can say for sure is that the Alien franchise isn’t going anywhere.

The TV series Alien: Earth secured critical acclaim and has a second season on the way. Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus was a hit, with many feeling it was the truest Alien film in decades.

No, you might not be able to hear screams in space. But the Alien franchise sure as hell continues to scream, anyway. And as someone who has been obsessed with the franchise since I was six, my chest is bursting.
