Sydney Sweeney and Stephen Kalyn have given fans a glimpse of their on-screen chemistry as they shoot The Housemaid’s Secret. The sneak peek comes from a behind-the-scenes video from the set of the sequel to the 2025 film, showing Sweeney and Kalyn’s characters kissing.
The next installment will see Sydney Sweeney return as the housemaid Millie, who, in the first movie, helped Amanda Seyfried escape a toxic, abusive marriage. The Housemaid ended with Millie walking away with a hefty sum, with the local police labeling the murder she committed as an accident. The maid is seen interviewing for another job, where she meets a woman in a similar situation. The ending places her as a protector of the abused, heavily implying that she is open to repeating her actions.
What fans should know about The Housemaid’s Secret
The Housemaid’s Secret, the follow-up to 2025’s sleeper hit The Housemaid, has a stacked cast. In addition to Sweeney and Kalyn, the movie will also star Kristen Dunst, Paul Anthony Kelly, and Brittany Snow.
Paul Feig is set to return to direct the feature, and Rebecca Sonnenshine, who also wrote the first movie, penned the script. Regarding the second project, Feig said, “We’re lucky that Freida McFadden has already extended Millie’s journey on the page, and that we get to work with Rebecca Sonnenshine and Lionsgate to bring this next story to audiences.”
Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate’s motion picture group chair, said, “The Housemaid’s Secret is another wildly thrilling book in Freida’s series that has captivated readers worldwide, and we look forward to translating it into a similarly rousing and riotous moviegoing experience.”
Production companies behind the project include Hidden Pictures and Pretty Dangerous Pictures. Sweeney and author Freida McFadden will serve as executive producers. Carly Elter and Alex Young from Hidden Pictures are also credited as EPs.
The Housemaid’s Secret is set to hit theaters on December 17, 2027.
