The Vision of Sheyna Gee’s ‘Dirt’

The Vision of Sheyna Gee’s ‘Dirt’

Sheyna Gee has always been the life of the party, so it only made sense that she would grow up to be an entertainer. Picking up a guitar at age 5 and fronting her first gig at age 6, Sheyna grew up on the stage. Shey played the Venice boardwalk as a teen and the LA club scene right out of high school, while living in Hollywood and Hermosa Beach. Culminating with being honored by the LA Music Awards with “Best Country Single” and “Best Singer/Songwriter” wins – this is when she made the move to Nashville.

Sheyna loves to put on a show. When she first walks in you can’t help but notice the sparkly pink cowboy boots adorned on her tattooed legs. As a musician she totes the line of country and rock n roll. This honky tonk troubadour has shared  the stage with legends from Stevie Wonder to Elton John, performed for presidents, and even did a stint on New York’s Broadway. In 2022 she is now taking this show international with a string of dates across Europe including Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, and the UK, followed by a US spring tour in 2023.

Sheyna Gee is currently gearing up for a release of a new EP in 2023. Coming off recent TikTok virality for her self-penned single, “Ghost,” the first single of 2022, “Lost and Found” gained attention from editorial playlists on every platform. Sheyna is not stopping anytime soon with new music coming all winter long. Sheyna Gee is country’s new rebel and this y’allternative Barbie is here to stay.

Hi Sheyna! When you look at all the music you have made, what is the big picture for how you want your artistry to be seen?

I honestly just want my fans to connect with my music.

You challenge the status quo, how did you identify your purpose for the music you wanted to put out?

I just release what I feel and don’t try to chase a sound just because it’s what everyone else is doing.

When you create your body of work, are there boxes you must check or does everything evolve as it should be and you allow for the checklist to not be completely checked?

I don’t know if I’d say it evolves “as it should” but I don’t try to check any boxes.

Could you give us some insight of what your checklist does look like if you have one?

    I don’t have one.

Who are you paying homage to for your vision as an artist?

Myself. I have idols of course but I’m not trying to pay homage to anyone, I just follow where my songs take me.

What details went into everything from the sound to visuals for Dirt?

I wrote the song with my friend and guitar player in my band, Jeffrey Krantz in Nashville, flew out to Hollywood to record it with Kevin “Thrasher” Gruft and shot the cover with Kelsey Page at the dam.

You are a visionary, please keep us in the loop of what your plans are for more music and WHERE you are headed next for your fans to connect with you?

I have new singles every month, I’ll be touring the US this spring and they can always keep up with me at www.tiktok.com/@geeis4gangster
