Anaconda 2025 is here, just in time for the holidays. The narrative follows two childhood friends, Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd), who embark on a wild midlife quest to remake their favorite 1997 film. Teaming up with friends Kenny (Steve Zahn) and Claire (Thandiwe Newton), they venture into the Amazonian wilderness to shoot their dream project.
Things, however, take a deadly turn when a massive anaconda emerges on set. The friends’ fun project turns into a desperate fight for survival. The line between reality and the remake blurs as they battle the beast in the Amazon jungle.
The movie was filmed entirely in Queensland, Australia. The reason is the striking resemblance between Australia’s and South America’s tropical rainforests. The crew used the Gold Coast Rainforests’ dense greenery and jungle-like settings to recreate the Amazon.
Meanwhile, the production team also utilised the Village Roadshow Studios, Oxenford, for controlled indoor jungle sets and water tank scenes. The studio offers multiple sound stages, production offices, and dedicated spaces for editing, makeup, wardrobe, and more.
Moreover, local landmarks adding to the movie’s scenic beauty include the Purling Brook Falls in Springbrook National Park. Its dramatic waterfalls and rugged landscape made for the perfect backdrop for the movie’s thrilling chase scenes. Also featured on Anaconda 2025 were the natural splendor of the Tamborine Mountain and the Gold Coast hinterland.
The principal photography for the film kicked off in January 2025 and wrapped up by late February 2025, lasting less than two months. The movie received mostly mixed reviews from critics, with many criticizing the tone.
