Serafini Productions, together with Shochiku Games, have released the latest entry in the BrokenLore series in BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW on PlayStation and Steam. For those on the fence, you can check out the demo for UNFOLLOW on Steam.

“Three years ago, our adventure began with a simple idea: to create a horror game that explored the impact of social media on mental health,” says the news update from Serafini. “It’s been a long journey, and we’re incredibly happy that this day has finally come.”

The BrokenLore series has depicted “modern societal anxiety and the weakness of the human heart” through surreal world-building, symbolic horror expressions, and humanistic storytelling. The latest title, UNFOLLOW, focuses on the darkness of social media, featuring appearances by famous influencers such as Akidearest and Knite.

BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW centres on Anne, a victim of bullying who wakes up trapped in a nightmarish world. As a result, Anne is forced to explore her surroundings and come to terms with her past’s most painful choices. Anne is not alone in this world, however, as a monstrous creature wanders around and follows her every step. The choices you make throughtout UNFOLLOW will lead to one of the game’s multiple endings.

As mentioned, UNFOLLOW delves into social issues, particularly the influence of social media, exploring the intricacies of mental health, body dysmorphia, and the horrors of bullying. The creatures that Anne faces will each symbolize a different trauma experienced by Anne. Coincidentally, emphasis will be placed on Anne’s smartphone, which will serve numerous functions throughout the game.

Meanwhile, Serafini Productions is busy on the next entry in the series with BrokenLore: ASCEND, which is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC this summer.
