We have learned the sad news this week that actor Beau Starr, best known to horror fans for his role in the original Halloween franchise, has passed away at 81 years old.
Beau Starr played the character Sheriff Ben Meeker in both Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989).
Starr later returned to the horror genre to work with Dario Argento, appearing as the character Chief Charlie in his “Masters of Horror” episode titled Jenifer (2005).
Outside of the horror genre, you probably recognize Beau Starr from movies including Summer School, Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas, and Chevy Chase comedy Fletch.
Beau’s younger brother Mike Starr tells TMZ that he passed away peacefully of natural causes in Vancouver, Canada on Friday, April 24.
Beau Starr played for the New York Jets in the NFL before breaking into acting, going on to make over one hundred appearances in both movies and television.
Starr’s credits include “Three’s Company,” “St. Elsewhere,” “Hill Street Blues,” “V,” “The A-Team,” Hollywood Vice Squad, “Matlock,” “True Blue,” Speed, “The Outer Limits,” Devil in a Blue Dress, “NYPD Blue,” “Due South,” Mercy, Cinderella Man, and “The Dead Zone.”
