Will Smith’s .9B Sci-Fi Movies Are About To Hit Hulu in a Matter of Days

All three of Will Smith’s alien-busting blockbusters are finally landing on a single streaming platform. The $1.9 billion sci-fi franchise hits Hulu’s August lineup alongside Spanish-language versions of each film.

Men in Black trilogy to stream on Hulu in August

The complete Men in Black trilogy arrives on Hulu starting August 1, 2026. The streamer’s official August schedule lists Men in Black (1997), Men in Black II (2002), and Men in Black 3 (2012) as simultaneous additions. All three films will also stream in Spanish-language versions on the same day.

Barry Sonnenfeld directed the original Men in Black, which starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as secret agents monitoring extraterrestrial life. The 1997 sci-fi comedy earned $589 million at the worldwide box office on a $90 million production budget. Critics responded favorably, giving the film a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The second installment reunited both lead actors for another alien-hunting adventure in 2002. Men in Black II pulled in $445 million globally but landed a significantly lower 38% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel cost $140 million to produce, making it substantially more expensive than its predecessor.

Josh Brolin expanded the cast in Men in Black 3 by portraying a younger version of Agent K. The time-travel storyline helped the 2012 threequel become the franchise’s biggest commercial hit at $624 million worldwide. Critics gave the film a 67% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Sony spent $215 million on production.

Fresh momentum surrounds the franchise following Sony’s December 2025 announcement of a new installment. Chris Bremner is currently penning the screenplay for the upcoming Men in Black film. The four existing movies have collectively generated over $1.9 billion in global theatrical revenue.

Notably, Men in Black: International (2019) does not appear among Hulu’s August additions. The Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson spinoff managed only $253 million worldwide with a 23% Rotten Tomatoes score. The trilogy lands alongside other major August 1 titles including Jurassic Park, Casino, and Tropic Thunder.
