Merritt’s snap of the tarts looked like Christmas in a box just in time for the holiday season, comprising white icing and colorful sprinkles. Chiefs defensive back coach David Merritt Sr. tweeted a photo of Taylor Swift’s “Pop Tarts” on his X (formerly Twitter) account, notifying others that he is the latest recipient of her baked goods. The post featured two snaps — one of Swift side-hugging him during one of the team’s games and the second of the sweet treats she sent him. The box held a number of tarts that looked like holiday-themed baked goods topped with white icing and sprinkles. Not only that, Swift handwrote a message on the box that read, “Victory Pop Tarts! Congratulations!” as she signed it with “love.”
Merritt further exhibited his excitement in the caption, “Taylor Swift baked homemade victory Pop Tarts [for] me!” However, he quickly noted that his wife informed him he wasn’t the only person to receive sweet treats from the “Fortnight” singer this holiday season. The NFL coach wrote, “Yolanda Merritt said, ‘She’s done it all season for different people Dave,’” adding a face-palm emoji after that. He then joked about how he thought “I was SPECIAL,” nonetheless calling her a “sweet young woman.”
Taylor Swift has openly expressed her love for baking, especially Pop Tarts, and does it for close ones regardless of what time of the year it is. Swift has previously baked sweet treats for several Kansas City Chiefs players, including the Mahomes as she remains tight with fellow WAG Brittany Mahomes. In fact, the Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, once revealed she frequently bakes for his family at their house. He also confirmed that his daughter, Sterling, is Swift’s star pupil.
