There’s nothing quite like a scathing breakup anthem to shake you out of your emotional fog—and Rachel DeeLynn’s “Egomaniac!” delivers that emotional jolt in the best way possible. From the first listen, I was completely hooked. Not just because of its blistering guitars or punchy chorus, but because it’s real. It’s the kind of song that captures the aftermath of a toxic relationship with such clarity and fire, you feel like you’re living it right alongside her.

“Egomaniac!” is a two-and-a-half-minute adrenaline shot to the heart—furious, fast, and cathartic. DeeLynn takes aim at an ex so self-absorbed he’s practically a walking mirror, and she doesn’t pull a single punch. What I love most about the track is that it doesn’t wallow. It doesn’t romanticize heartbreak. It calls it out, flips it the bird, and struts away with its head held high. That’s the energy I want from a breakup song in 2025.

Right off the bat, the track hits with a jagged, overdriven guitar riff that had me thinking of early Avril Lavigne or even a touch of Kelly Clarkson’s Breakaway era, but sharper, more chaotic in the best way. The production is tight—drums crashing in all the right places, guitars leading with urgency but never drowning DeeLynn’s vocals, which are front and center, exactly where they belong. She’s not hiding behind effects or artifice. You hear the rawness in her voice, and you feel it.

Then there’s the chorus. Oh, the chorus. “E is for every stupid thing you said, and G, the girls you disappoint in your bed, Oh my god, where do you get off acting like that, you’re such an egomaniac.” It’s like she’s literally dissecting the personality flaw that wrecked the relationship. It’s clever, it’s cutting, and it’s catchy as hell. I found myself shouting it by the second chorus, not because it’s bubblegum pop, but because it’s the kind of line that means something when you’ve been there—when you’ve dealt with someone who only hears themselves, only loves themselves, and leaves no space for your voice, your feelings, your worth.

The lyrics across the board are sharp and purposeful, and DeeLynn sings them with fervor, spitting the lines like it’s been sitting on her tongue for too long. This isn’t just a vent session; it’s a reclamation. She’s not mourning the loss—she’s waking up from the delusion and refusing to be quiet about it.

What makes “Egomaniac!” land so well is that it feels earned. It doesn’t feel like a gimmick or a trend-chasing attempt to hop on the pop-punk revival train. DeeLynn sounds like she means every word. There’s rage, sure—but there’s also wit, self-awareness, and a spark of joy in finally calling someone out for exactly who they are.

If you’ve ever loved someone who only loved themselves, this song will hit like a truth bomb. Rachel DeeLynn isn’t just airing dirty laundry—she’s torching it and dancing in the ashes. “Egomaniac!” is a breakup song for the bold, the fed-up, and the ready-to-move-on—and I’ll be blasting it on repeat.
