New Viking Movie With FIFA World Cup Star Erling Haaland Gets 1st Teaser

The first teaser has been released for ViQueens, an upcoming adventure film that features soccer star Erling Haaland among its cast. The newly unveiled footage provides an early glimpse of the film’s Viking-inspired world and its central characters. In addition to the teaser, the filmmakers shared new production details.

Erling Haaland plays a Viking version of himself in ViQueens teaser

The first teaser for ViQueens has provided a glimpse of soccer star Erling Haaland’s role in the upcoming animated feature, with the player appearing as a Viking-inspired version of himself. According to Deadline, the clip was unveiled during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. There, director Zwart Arbeid presented the project.

Haaland is part of a voice cast that also includes Ella Purnell and Rita Ora. The animated adventure centers on Ingrid and Hedvig, two young Viking girls who embark on a journey to return a stowaway boy to China. Their travels take them across multiple regions, as they encounter new allies and challenges along the way.

Along with the teaser, Zwart and producer Veslemøy Ruud Zwart discussed the filmmaking process behind ViQueens. The pair highlighted a production technique called “Reference Capture.” It was developed to incorporate performances, camera work, and physical staging at an early stage of production.

According to Zwart, “From the beginning, we wanted ViQueens to feel as emotionally authentic and cinematically grounded as a live-action film while retaining all the imagination and scale that animation makes possible.” Speaking about the teaser producer Veslemøy Ruud Zwart said, “The teaser is our first opportunity to invite audiences into the world of ViQueens.”

The voice ensemble also features Steve Speirs as King Erik, Anton Lesser as Lars, and Alan Carr as the Bard. Animation and visual effects are being handled by Gimpville, while OPCM is overseeing post-production and audio services. The film’s music is composed by Christophe Beck.

ViQueens is currently scheduled for delivery in late 2026. A domestic release is planned for December 25, 2026.
