Julia Jacklin Announces New Album, The Gem, Shares First Single: Stream

Julia Jacklin has announced a new album, The Gem, her debut release for 4AD Records. With the announcement comes the record’s first single, “Get Away From Me (I Think I’ll Love You Soon).” Stream it below.

The Gem is scheduled for release on September 25th. The album contains a tight 10 tracks produced by Jacklin and Robert Muinos. The Australian singer-songwriter drafted Jacob Diamond (guitar), Mimi Gilbert (bass), and Jess Elwood (drums) and recorded the tunes from December 2024 to December 2025 in a converted hotel room above a Melbourne pub not coincidentally named The Gem. The album will be put out digitally, on CD, cassette, and vinyl, including colored editions for retailers. Fans can preorder The Gem here.

“The Gem felt like a metaphor for the whole process, because a lot of it did feel like digging,” Jacklin said in a statement. “I felt like I was doing it almost in the dark, just trusting I was going to find something.”

“Get Away From Me (I Think I’ll Love You Soon)” showcases Jacklin’s accessible approach to crafting a song. Anchored by a catchy and meaningful lyric that gives the song its title, she creates a tune that is familiar and singable, hitting a nod to jangle rock with melodic guitar noodling amid steady strumming and drumming. This is pure songwriting.

Jacklin will be touring North America this fall before hitting Europe early next year. Fans can get tickets here.
