Twin Temple have announced their new album, Doomed Lovers, a record made among personal turmoil for the married duo. As a preview of the record, the Satanist throwback act unveiled the title track. Stream it below.
Doomed Lovers, Twin Temple’s third album, is set for release October 9th. The collection of songs was produced by Grammy-winner Shooter Jennings and was recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood utilizing vintage methods and analogue gear that’s a major part of the band’s mid-century aesthetic. Twin Temple also brought in a 37-piece orchestra, drawing inspiration from Roy Orbison, The Ronettes, and The Shangri-Las for an album that the band said, “We poured everything into,” pushing themselves to make their most personal record to date.
“The truth is, this album was made during one of the darkest periods of our lives,” Twin Temple said in a statement. “We had been struggling with grief, health issues, addiction, and depression. But day by day, going into Sunset Sound, making music with incredible people who believed in us, and being surrounded by that creativity slowly brought us back to life.”

The title track embodies the retro sound Twin Temple are known for, starting out like the slow song at a 1950s prom before the orchestra swoops in to transform the arrangement into a bolero in the vein of The Righteous Brothers’ version of “Unchained Melody.” Notably absent is any overt reference to their favorite topic — Satanism — instead giving listeners lyrics akin to the stories of Romeo and Juliet or Mark Antony and Cleopatra.
“This is the philosophical centerpiece of the album,” Twin Temple said of the single, “a theatrical and confessional take on all or nothing love, the dark side of devotion and centuries old mythic literary Romantic themes.”
Twin Temple’s open Satanic beliefs got them booted by Charley Crockett from supporting gigs on his tour. However, Jack White stepped in and offered the husband-and-wife duo the opportunity to open for him in September. The band is touring this summer, including dates supporting Danzig.
