    RJ Decker Season 2 Episode 2 Review: RJ’s Hands Are Full with a New Love Interest & a Shocking Arrest

    There were so many severed hands in this episode of RJ Decker.

    And yet, somehow, that wasn’t nearly as shocking as that ending! So, where are we getting our “Free Emi” shirts, preferably Hawaiian style, because no way on earth did she kill her daddy.

    Even if she did, is it so bad? Maybe I’ve just become an Emi Apologist.

    RJ had his hands full, um, pardon the pun, with a case that got super twisty and involved a stolen championship ring, a severed hand, and some man named Carmine, a Fort Lauderdale transplant who just so happened to be mobbed up.

    There were also so many muscleheads within the hour. Just rippled muscles, tiny tees, and smoothies galore!

    But at the center of all the chaos were RJ’s neighbors Jake and Kayla, their quite distinguishable pink poodle van, and the muscleheads coming after them over this severed hand with the championship ring.

    Living in that trailer park has given RJ some seriously fascinating experiences. “Keep Florida weird” stays true to itself when it comes to that damn trailer park.

    Nevertheless, that’s how RJ got pulled into the situation, and Wish, well, he was just along for the ride because he had the hots for Kayla, and I loved that for him.

    Screw Jake, truly!

    He wasn’t right for her anyway, and I’m all for Wish having a nice lady to keep him company. It was so adorable to see how smitten he was and how willing he was to offer up his bed, while he took the couch to protect her when it seemed some bad guys were after her.

    Goodness, I love Wish.

    He truly wasn’t the one getting a possible love connection out of the hour, because we also have lab tech Trudy, and I’m super excited about this development!

    Shantel VanSanten from FBI, Shooter, and, frankly, everything under the sun is guest-starring on the series this season, and Trudy, with all of her wonderfully weird awkwardness and geekiness, has already won my heart.

    She’s such a precious character and genuinely fun to watch. She was already stealing scenes from the moment she walked into them, and it’s hilarious that she seems to have Mel’s approval.

    If I didn’t know any better, I swear she was setting the two of them up, which feels about right with that fun, familial thing they have going on anyway and how they all notoriously meddle in each other’s lives.

    Trudy feels like a possible love interest, especially since she put it on record that RJ is typically her type, the rest of the lab rats would make fun of her if they saw them interacting, and she was definitely flirting with RJ and had sparks flying.

    I’m here for it! Give it to me! It was probably the most endearing part of the hour with the most potential too. RJ likes Emi, and the two of them have a connection no doubt.

    But they also have a complicated past and a potentially tough road ahead of him, in large part because she’s still trying to navigate the crapstorm that is her grief over losing her father, with the mess he’s left behind that she seems to be facing scrutiny for.

    After RJ Decker Season 2’s premiere, it’s been clear enough that, right now, Emi needs a friend more than a love or anything else. And RJ seems content with settling into that role well enough.

    He’s good like that, and it seems to be where he thrives with his dynamics.

    So, if RJ and Emi are on the back burner for now, it’d be nice to see him interacting with someone new, and Trudy is genuinely such a doll. They have great energy, and they’d be an endearing pair.

    But things are definitely awkward now that she’s filled him in on the details regarding Emi and the police being after her.

    Emi went to RJ for help because she was afraid someone was following her, and she was right. I mean, the guy tailing her was NOT doing a great job at hiding, and it put her on edge.

    It seems like the opposite of what a cop would normally want to do.

    But it seems they were waiting until they had the warrant they needed to make an arrest finally, and now that they have it, it seems Emi is the one accused of killing her father. She really can’t win for losing right now!

    What I’m curious about is what the actual details of the case and evidence look like. Trudy said something about her file being thick, but the one thing that’s been consistent about Emi is that she didn’t know much about what her father was up to and often felt under his thumb.

    It took a lot for her to stand up to her father when she did, so are we to believe she was the one who murdered him and thought she’d get away with it when we know that he had a lot of enemies and was in bed with the cartel and whoever else?

    Now, it makes sense why she had a hard time getting information about his death, since they were looking at her and didn’t want to say it until they built their case. But it feels like a lazy out on the police’s part when there were so many enemies that Ochoa made along the way.

    I didn’t see this development coming, and it was the part of the hour that really got my attention.

    That’s not to say that all of these handless meatheads duking it out and chasing down Kayla and anyone else for this hand wasn’t entertaining on its own.

    Even Sofia got in on some of the hand action, and frankly, I would love to get more screen time with her!

    But after all that mano y mano action, everything turns on its head with that ending!
