Single Release Review: Irene Michaels “What The World Needs Now Is Love”

Irene Michaels has just released a cover to the timeless and beautiful song “What The World Needs Now Is Love”, written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David and made famous by the phenomenal singer and songwriter Jackie DeShannon. Although this song has been covered an insurmountable amount of times, it still possesses the same sentiment. With the current state of the world’s climate in the midst of chaos and movement, political unrest, the threat of plague and starvation, and the uneasiness mankind feels, this song has never been more relevant and needed more.

Michaels along with producer Ray DeTone added an edge to the melody with bells, echoes and reverbs making a unique and sensational mix. Michaels is a little powerhouse and vibrantly put her own spin in the vocals. She has been recording House Music most recently but for this has switched to an adult contemporary pop classic kind of vibe. The record has been released via Tribeca Records and has been blowing up Spotify.

“What The World Needs Now Is Love” is undoubtedly one of the most important songs ever written and recorded in our present history. The Jackie DeShannon version of this song has been selected by the US Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry this year. Out of thousands of songs nominated only 25 get selected each year.

Irene Michaels has been in the entertainment industry nearly all of her life. She has been a dancer, a model, an actress, a writer, a blog host, and award-winning equestrian, and a skin care expert. Currently her focus is on songwriting, performing life shows, and of course, recording.
