The Morning Show Season 4 Episode 2 Review: The Revolution Will Be Televised

The Morning Show Season 4 Episode 2 Review: The Revolution Will Be Televised

The Morning Show Season 4 is reminding me why I love this show. It is top-tier entertainment that reflects our current world.

That can be a bad or good thing, depending on who you ask. Television has always played a multifaceted role in people’s lives, but its greatest accomplishment is its ability to inform and educate.

The Morning Show Season 4 Episode 2 dives into one of the stories that were introduced in the season premiere. While the premiere touched on a little of everything, this episode zeroes in on AI, and not the flowery version of it that corporations want you to see.

Every technology has constantly introduced a new frontier for exploitation, crime, and abuse. Apart from the internet, AI is arguably the most disruptive technology ever invented.

And maybe it’s because I think about it too much. Or other people don’t think about it enough.

The Morning Show can never tackle all the problems associated with this technology, but it stays on topic as it relates to celebrities and the newsroom.

After a clip is doctored, Alex Levy is left climbing walls with worry because it makes her feel crazy. And it would make anyone feel crazy to hear their voice say things they know they didn’t say. Or did they?

It’s imperative that lawmakers around the world quickly put up guardrails against AI; otherwise, we might lose civilization as we know it.

But with how many AI companies have started lining politicians’ pockets, these guardrails will not be effective and will come too late.

When trust between people is eroded, what else is left?

Speaking of AI, you might not be able to find anything you like written by real people anymore because we’re into the era of AI slop. Search engines like Google have killed search and discovery. The only way now is to bookmark sites you like and subscribe to newsletters.

The Old Morning Show Is Back – Kinda

Meanwhile, Bradley is back in the newsroom, but she has a secret mission.

She thrives in uncovering secrets and is hellbent on uncovering what UBA tried to bury. This is bound to cause conflict between her and Alex since everything will blow back on UBN, and this is Alex’s life’s work.

Two years have changed a lot. While there are familiar faces in the newsroom, there is also a news staff, and it’s just amazing seeing how reporters and newspeople are. They are like uber-focused copies of each other, who don’t miss a thing.

However, sometimes you need the old guard because they know the job. And with Chip by her side, Bradley sets out to uncover the whistleblower.

This is where it gets complicated because when someone comes to you with risky personal stuff, the least you can do is try to let them be in control.

I did not appreciate her immediate attempt at looping Chip in and their concerted effort to try to uncover who @gaiawarrior96 is. It’s like she didn’t even try. She could have cultivated a relationship before bringing Chip on board.

If I were the whistleblower, I would not engage with them again.

“The Revolution Will Be Televised” is peak The Morning Show drama. No one brings drama as juicy as Cory. I might not like that man, but my god, is he a conniving smart son of a.

For two years, he’s been floating aimlessly, making a worse movie than the next, and that’s if he makes one at all. It’s always interesting how some people tend to fail backwards.

I’m not saying that Cory is like Dave from Smoke, but do we all see a pattern? Apparently, cishet white men get inexhaustible chances, and when they feel like their next chance has been delayed, they go nuclear.

Cory tries to get funding for his stalled movie and uses all the tricks in the book. He borrows, begs, asks, and pleads, but sometimes people get tired. But when he sees an opportunity to blackmail, he takes it.

And folks, that’s why you shouldn’t sleep with your boss’s partner, no matter how hot he is. You might end up with a Cory Ellison back in your business.

I mean, Stella girl, I know running a massive network is exhausting, and having a hunk of a man make eyes at you would make any hardworking woman weak, but you’re stronger than that. Now Cory’s back, and he’ll hold that over your head for the rest of your life.

One line from the season has been living rent-free in my head. “The drama at the network is juicier than the drama on the network,” it goes. And juicy drama is developing.

For example, with Bradley and Alex back, Chris and Yanko start acting out. How long until Mia can’t stand their entitlement and either fires them or quits? Chris is especially aggravating because I’ve never connected with the character, even with Nicole Beharie’s masterful performance.

“The Revolution Shall Be Televised” is another fantastic hour of The Morning Show that deals with a pertinent issue and delivers drama. What more could we ask for?

    Stray Thoughts

    • Are we really trying to legitimize the “alternative facts” crowd, UBN? This guy is literally called Bro! This idea that just because someone has huge numbers their takes are valid is utter nonsense. 5G is not making anyone gay.
    • I’ve noticed a shift in Apple TV+ shows where they are now more sexually explicit. I’m not complaining, but if someone was watching something with their mother, save some money for trauma therapy.

Over to you, The Morning Show fanatics. What did you think?
