Even years following her departure from the show, Ann Curry is still known for her work with NBC, including NBC News and even Today. Recently, she’s shared her support towards a former fellow Today staffer who came forward with a story concerning allegations over Matt Lauer. Notably, this wasn’t the first time Curry has weighed in on the story.

Curry is a retired journalist with a career spanning decades. To many, she is best known for her work with NBC News, Dateline NBC, and even the Today show.

In 2015, however, Curry left NBC News after around 25 years. Since then, she has continued to work with other outlets, including her own media startup and We’ll Meet Again with Ann Curry.

Recently, Curry’s former Today colleague Matt Lauer was discussed in Brooke Nevils’ upcoming memoir, Unspeakable Things. Nevils previously worked as an NBC talent assistant at the 2014 Sochi Olympics when she claimed Lauer allegedly raped her. In 2017, Lauer was terminated from Today following accusations of inappropriate sexual behavior.

As shared in her book, Nevils claimed that this humiliating experience was followed by other incidents upon returning to New York City. She also admitted to spending time in a psych ward following the alleged incident.

Curry Has Previously Shown Support For Matt Lauer’s Accusers Over The Years

Speaking with People, Curry recently spoke out in support of Nevils. Ahead of the memoir’s upcoming February release, Curry shared, “I remember Brooke as good-hearted and credible, with great potential,” also calling Nevils “brave.”

Curry has previously expressed her support for Nevils and other women who made claims against Lauer. Months after he left Today, she told The Washington Post that she spoke to NBC management in 2012 after a female staffer claimed to have been “sexually harassed physically” by Lauer.

According to the outlet, at the time, Curry shared, “A woman approached me and asked me tearfully if I could help her. She was afraid of losing her job… I believed her.”

As noted by People, Curry initially withheld the name of the staffer at her own request.  She continued, “I told management they had a problem and they needed to keep an eye on him and how he deals with women.”

On social media, Curry also expressed support for Curry in a post on X back in 2019. At the time, she wrote, “Brooke Nevils is a credible young woman of good character. She came to NBC News an eager and guileless 20-something, brimming with talent. I believe she is telling the truth. And that breaks my heart.”

As previously reported, Nevils’ memoir is due for release on February 3, 2026. The book’s full title was given as Unspeakable Things: Silence, Shame, and the Stories We Choose to Believe.
