Has Watson Season 3 Been Canceled or Renewed?

Curious if Season 3 of Watson has been renewed or if it’s been canceled? This CBS medical drama, which offers a fresh take on the Sherlock Holmes universe through the perspective of Dr. John Watson, quickly captured interest with its distinctive concept and character-focused narrative. Now, fans are anxiously anticipating news on whether the series will move forward or conclude.

So, is Watson set for a Season 3 renewal, or has it faced cancellation? Here’s all the information you need regarding the show’s future.

Has CBS canceled Watson or renewed it for Season 3?

Watson has officially been canceled for Season 3 by CBS.

According to Deadline, CBS has officially canceled the drama series Watson as part of its finalized 2026–27 lineup. This decision followed months of uncertainty, during which Watson was the only scripted title that had not yet received a renewal, while other series were picked up earlier in the year.

The network confirmed the cancellation before its scheduled lineup announcement on April 15, providing clarity regarding the show’s future. The absence of a renewal indicated the performance challenges the show faced over time. However, Watson Season 2’s finale episode 20 will be the last and is set to premiere on May 3, 2026.

Despite its initial concept and fan interest, Watson struggled to find a solid place within CBS’s lineup, particularly as it was among the network’s lowest-rated programs. The series was unable to sustain consistent viewership, which greatly diminished its chances of continuing past its second season.

Moreover, changes made in the schedule further affected the show’s trajectory. Watson experienced a significant decline in ratings after being moved from its original Sunday time slot to Mondays, which disrupted its audience.

Although CBS later moved the series back to Sundays, the damage to its viewership was already done, leading to its declining prospects and eventual cancellation.

The series cast features Morris Chestnut, Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Inga Schlingmann, Ritchie Coster, Rochelle Aytes, and others.
