Shrek is set to make his much-anticipated arrival in a fighting game next month. News of the arrival also came with a new trailer for his inclusion.

Developer Blue Mammoth Games and Publisher Ubisoft announced that Shrek is set to make his long-awaited arrival in the platform fighting game Brawlhalla. The announcement comes in celebration of Shrek’s 25th anniversary, and sees a number of characters from the franchise join the game.

When does Shrek release for Brawlhalla?

The Shrek franchise will arrive in Brawlhalla on July 29, 2026. The collaboration sees Shrek, Princess Fiona, Puss in Boots, and Donkey all joining the franchise as playable fighters. Alongside the addition of the characters, Brawlhalla will also have a new map featuring Shrek’s iconic Swamp and other items inspired by fairy tale creatures in it.

No information on how the characters will play in the game has been revealed as of yet. However, Blue Mammoth Games did release a new trailer for the collab, which you can check out below:

Originally released in 2017, Brawlhalla features 68 playable characters since its release, many of which include a ton of characters from other franchises. To date, tons of franchises have become playable in the game, including Adventure Time, Assassin’s Creed, Attack on Titan, SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Wars, and more.

The Shrek franchise dates back to 2001, when the first film released. To date, the franchise has had four mainline films, as well as two Puss in Boots spin-off films. A fifth film in the franchise is currently in production, and planned for release on June 30, 2027.
