Marvel announces Alien vs. X-Men crossover series with release date

Marvel and 20th Century Studios recently announced their collaboration on a special crossover series, Alien vs. X-Men. Coming off the massive success of Alien vs. Avengers, this four-issue comic will see the mutant team go up against Xenomorphs from the iconic R-rated sci-fi movie franchise.

Kieron Gillen, who previously wrote Immortal X-Men, will write the series. Although it will include a story by Chris Claremont. Meanwhile, Geraldo Borges, an acclaimed artist whose credits include Jessica Jones: Alias and Thunderbolts, will handle the illustration. Additionally, Ryan Stegman provides the main cover art, while Ivan Shavrin designed the variant cover.

The comic hits store shelves on September 16, 2026. Fans can pre-order it from local comic shops starting today. In it, the superheroes end up fighting the Xenomorphs after embarking on a quest for a Phoenix egg.

The X-Men return to Earth with deadly cargo, and a violent battle between mutant and alien begins. Will an unexpected ally turn the tide in the X-Men’s favor? Will anyone survive the experience? The next evolution of Marvel’s mightiest mutants begins!

“The X-Men went looking for a Phoenix egg. They found something else,” the story description reads. “The X-Men return to Earth with deadly cargo, and a violent battle between mutant and alien begins. Will an unexpected ally turn the tide in the X-Men’s favor? Will anyone survive the experience? The next evolution of Marvel’s mightiest mutants begins!”

Moreover, the series includes a bonus narrative following Kitty Pryde. Created by veteran writer Chris Claremont, it will see her be hunted by both the Xenomorphs and Claremont’s co-creation with Dave Cockrum, the Brood.

The plot description reads, “A young Kitty Pryde faces her greatest nightmare when she’s hunted by two of the galaxy’s greatest terrors: the Brood and the Xenomorphs!”

Meanwhile, the fan-favorite mutant team will feature in two highly anticipated titles coming this year: X-Men ’97 Season 2 and Avengers: Doomsday. The former starts streaming on Disney+ on July 1, 2026, while the latter premieres in theaters on December 18.
