Lionel Richie Has Terrified His Fans
Over the past few months, American Idol judge Lionel Richie has given his fans quite a fright. He headed to the ICU on August 29th while he was in the middle of his tour. The seventy-seven-year-old had previously stopped a performance when he started to feel ill. He had gotten dizzy and realized that he needed medical attention. Then, within days, Lionel felt it was time for even more help, and he underwent several tests on his heart. Lionel was released, and the hope was that he was on a better track, but it was not so.
He was back at the hospital around September 22nd for AFib, despite sources saying that he was “doing great” upon his September 2nd release. Now, Lionel has shocked everyone by revealing he will be back on Idol for Season 25. It had been believed that maybe he would be replaced so that he could heal. Moreover, it was unclear if he would be healthy enough to show up daily and judge the contestants. It seems that he is doing just that, and it is scary. To add to the fear, the show is leaving California for Georgia, so he will need to establish a whole new medical team.
One Lionel Richie fan noted that he has to accept that he is 77 and maybe needs to slow down:
- Lionel Ritchie is 77 not 37, not 47, not 57. He can dye his hair an unnatural black, get Botox etc but he has to accept that he’s not a young gun. Pace yourself brother!
Take It Easy
This is very scary for Lionel Richie, and he needs to take his health seriously. He cannot overwork himself with touring and American Idol. However, he has been working for decades, so this is all he knows. Some fans felt that judging was less stressful, while others suggested he just retire:

- Sounds like he’ll get to do something he loves with less stress than touring
- He needs to retire, respectfully.
- Someone lock this man in his house. He’s insane
Hopefully, Lionel Richie is getting the medical care that he needs and is taking things seriously. No one wants any more medical emergencies because they want him around for a long time.
