Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell’s mysterious health issues have been making headlines since last month. Throughout this time, various figures have been asking questions about what was going on. CNN journalist Kaitlan Collins, in particular, recently had a few questions for a journalist who had a history with the senator and who recently shared an update about the story.
Reports Came Out Mitch McConnell Was Rushed Into An Ambulance In Mid-June
Collins is a news anchor for CNN. She previously served as a co-anchor of CNN This Morning. She has also hosted The Source, starting in the role back in 2023.
Recently, Collins had questions concerning McConnell during a recent episode of The Source. Back on June 14, McConnell was seen being rushed into an ambulance from his D.C. home after he was found unconscious.

On her show, Collins shared, “McConnell’s team still hasn’t disclosed why he is in the hospital or when he is expected to be released.” She then spoke with commentator Scott Jennings.
Collins asked him, “Did you know that he had been taken in an ambulance before this?” He replied, “Well, I certainly heard he’d gone to the hospital, and traditionally, the way you go to the hospital is by ambulance.”
Jennings notably had a background concerning the senator. As noted by OK! Magazine, he worked for McConnell during his 2002 and 2008 senatorial run campaigns. He had also claimed to have received a call from the politician earlier this week.
Scott Jennings Discussed Conspiracy Theories Surrounding McConnell Since The Story First Came Out
Collins then asked Jennings what McConnell said to him. He replied, “‘Hey, just calling to check in.’” However, he noted that they had a conversation lasting around 17 minutes. He also added that he was surprised to receive the call, noting that there had been speculation that he had passed. When asked by Collins, however, Jennings admitted he didn’t tell McConnell about the conspiracy theories alleging that he had died.
Earlier this month, Jennings also discussed the phone call on X. At the time, he shared, “I spoke to my old friend Mitch McConnell this morning, the senior Senator from Kentucky. He’s still recovering in the hospital. We talked for just shy of 20 minutes … about IRAN, UKRAINE, the unfolding situation in MAINE, my visit to the TR Presidential Library, and even a little bit of Senate history. I told him we want to see him back at work as soon as possible.”

According to the outlet, McConnell’s team has since released a statement on the matter on July 2: “Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he’s receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital. The Senator continues to improve, and is working closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters while the Senate is out of session.”
