Jennifer Lawrence on Why She Was Annoyed With Die My Love Co-Star

Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson recently appeared in Lynne Ramsay’s Die My Love, which opened to great acclaim. Of course, the star pair was a major attraction of the film, but there was a lot more to the tale. The duo discussed this on a recent podcast, where Lawrence also shed light on her co-star, who allegedly “annoyed the s—” out of her.

Jennifer Lawrence reveals she was annoyed with the dog in Die My Love

Yes, the co-star in question here is a dog, whom the Academy Award-winning actress found very annoying. Amidst discussing a variety of aspects of Die My Love, including its story and inspiration, she and her co-star soon turned to the more challenging aspects.

In Die My Love, the two newborn babies on set and a dog that barked a lot became the hardest to bear for Jennifer Lawrence. The dog plays a pivotal part in the film, contributing to her character’s slow mental decay with its constant barking. But it turns out the dog had a hard time getting out of its character.

“That dog annoyed the s— out of me,” Lawrence said in Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast. Robert Pattinson inserted his theory here, “I think one of the reasons the dog was barking so much is ’cause it was very upset by how much you were judging it. It was very nervous from day one.”

To this, The Hunger Games star responded, “I’m more of a cat person.” However, Pattinson continued to insist that it was a sweet dog. He also reasoned how the dog had to sit idly for long periods as they did script rewrites to accommodate the canine. “To accommodate the barking,” Lawrence interjected.

Additionally, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson revealed how they also had to make adjustments for the two kids, leading to more difficulty. “So we had to recalibrate a lot. Normally, you could just plop a baby in a car seat, and the twins were like, hell no, I hate that thing,” she stated.

Either way, Die My Love has ended up being a critical success with 73% approval on Rotten Tomatoes and praise for its lead pair, along with other elements of the story.
