Jenna Bush Hager got emotional during the April 30, 2026, episode of Today, where she discussed balancing motherhood with a bustling career with co-host Sheinelle Jones.
The anchor shares three kids, Mila, 13, Poppy, 10, and Hal, 6, with husband Henry Hager.
She told Sheinelle, “I have been working a lot because this has been shooting, and then I’ve had these big interviews and then all the book stuff…and so this morning when I woke up, I thought, ‘OK, the next couple weeks, the next couple months, it’s like kid-focused.”
“I’m like, how can I show up for Poppy in a way—now I’m crying,” she added before tearing up live on air, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
Indeed, Jenna Bush Hager has been busy. From reporting on the daytime show to working as a producer, to appearing in The Devil Wears Prada 2, she has a huge share of responsibilities on her shoulders, but she was not the only one doing this.
Sheinelle, who hugged Hager when she broke down, also dealt with something similar herself. “We’re OK,” Jenna said, “It may look like everything’s great, but things are falling apart.”
Sheinelle told her, “We can’t do it all at once…but we’re doing it.”
Sheinelle is also a mother of three children, Kayin Ojeh, Clara Josephine Ojeh, and Uche Ojeh, whom she shares with her late husband, Uche Ojeh. Her husband passed away in 2025 from glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer.
Sheinelle had previously said that the Today colleagues were like her family when her husband was sick (via E! News).
