Denise Richards is one of the strongest-willed women in Hollywood who survived a marriage to Charlie Sheen. Yet, she never imagined that her second marriage would become abusive and that she would be in the fight of her life. Denise is opening up about her estranged husband physically abusing her, but how she “felt” bad for him as he did so. Keep reading for more on what she had to say.
Denise Richards Was Made To Feel For Her Abuser
After being married to Charlie Sheen and having two children together, Denise Richards thought she had found her happy ending. She met Aaron Phypers, and RHOBH fans watched their love story quickly unfold in Season 9. The moment that his divorce from Nicollette Sheridan was finalized, he and Denise tied the knot. There was no hesitation, but by Season 10, it was a different Aaron. He threatened to crush her hand, was convinced they were being followed, and much more. Now, the two are in the middle of a contentious divorce, and it has been getting heated.
Aaron started off as a dream but soon turned into a nightmare. He ended up being abusive toward the actress, which she would have never expected. The mother of three detailed what she went through on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast. At one point, Denise, 55, shared that Aaron felt “so remorseful” over what he had done that she actually “felt bad for him.” However, one of her three girls, Sami Sheen, could see something was off. Yet, Aaron was able to manipulate Denise. Plus, the former RHOBH star was able to hide her bruises until he got her face:
“It was stuff that I could hide, on my arms or something. And then he gave me a black eye. And that was when I was like, ‘Oh, f—. What am I gonna do now? How am I gonna tell people?’ It was awful.”
Denise Richards’ father had warned her in the past about abusive men. Unfortunately, when the police got involved, the situation only got worse.
Reclaiming Her Life
Denise Richards is on a new path in reclaiming her life. She is still in the middle of her divorce from Aaron Phypers and admitted that seeing her ex turn on her was the nail in the coffin:
“To turn on me the way that he did publicly and do all that s— about me, that was more devastating. The betrayal that he had toward me … That was the worst.”
Yet, Denise keeps working and is proud of the girls she raised. At the same time, she lost one of her soul mates and best friends, Patrick Muldoon, earlier this year. That was such a hard pill to swallow and likely made so much of this seem minor.
