    Lioness Season 3 Episode 7 Review: Nothing Goes Quite as Expected

    One thing I could never take away from Lioness is its unpredictability.

    It’s one of those shows where you buckle up and prepare for a thrill ride for an hour each week, with no idea where things are truly headed.

    Lioness Season 3 Episode 7 was a nail-biting conclusion to Joe’s captivity, and I was honestly surprised at how it was all resolved within the first half of the episode.

    Something in the back of my head kept telling me that Joe’s ordeal wouldn’t end until the season did, so it was a pleasant surprise that her escape came when she least expected it.

    Joe knew she was headed for an uncertain fate if she didn’t do something in that car, and that’s what makes Lioness so great.

    She wasn’t thinking about the cops who could have gotten hurt because she was too laser-focused on the fact that she had to do something to return to her husband and children.

    She must have known that her actions would lead to the deaths of some of the police officers, but this was probably her only chance to make a getaway and get away in one piece.

    After Babat was introduced as this big bad at the tail end of Lioness Season 3 Episode 6, he seemed here to stay.

    I audibly gasped when Joe was trying to get the gun ready to open fire because I didn’t entertain the possibility that Lioness would dispatch such a character so soon.

    The whole scene was unnerving because I figured he was going to pull something out of the bag to force Joe to go with him instead of her team.

    But what followed was a bloodbath that changed the situation’s trajectory. Seeing Joe hobble across the field while opening fire and trying to get to safety was seriously one of the most intense scenes I’ve watched in a long time.

    Lioness Season 3 Is Building Towards a Big Showdown

    Maybe it’s because I felt like Lioness Season 3 was building up to her demise, or maybe it was because of the relentless tone. It was difficult to shake.

    Even when Bobby and Cruz showed up in the helicopter and took down the three men chasing her, I was still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

    I expected something else to happen, but her reunion with the two women who fought so fearlessly to find her was enough.

    Joe has been at the forefront of Lioness since the beginning, with her no-nonsense approach ruffling more than a few feathers throughout the series’ run.

    But this was a very different Joe who returned to her team. For a split-second, it seemed like she would be too traumatized even for a debrief.

    She’s been through so much, and the physical and emotional torture she endured was enough to break even the strongest of people.

    I loved that she and Cruz shared a moment where they acknowledged how far they’d come, and how Cruz shut down the notion that Joe owed her something for saving her.

    Now that Joe is back with her team, I was surprised she didn’t hotfoot it back to her family.

    But this Paramount+ drama has taught us that Joe isn’t the type of person to decompress. She’s the type of person to get results, even if it puts her in harm’s way all over again.

    I don’t think she’d be able to rest if she returned home and, god forbid, more people showed up at the house, and this time, things turned deadly.

    Joe is going to channel all of her rage into finding the person responsible, and I suspect she will go way off CIA protocol because she knows that this person could have ended her life.

    The icing on the cake is that Bobby and Cruz are along for the ride. I dare say everyone else will follow suit.

    Joe seemed especially surprised at the tenacity Kyle showed in getting her home. They’ve butted heads, sure, but his actions here trump all of their missteps.

    One thing I’m really unsure of is whether Byron and Kaitlin have gotten it all wrong and Oleksandra isn’t the person responsible for what happened to Joe.

    Their theory is sound, but the evidence is sorely lacking. Still, Edwin seems ready to move on from this, and that’s probably why he agreed to go after Oleksandra.

    With one episode of Lioness Season 3 left, there’s every chance that the show will be turned upside down.

    I suspect Neal will offer Joe an ultimatum: She accepts desk duty, or their marriage is over.

    There have been cracks in their relationship before, but somehow, they always seem to prevail.

    But you could see a shift in Neal when he learned Joe was safe. He’s exhausted from always thinking the worst and having no one to talk to about it.

    I can’t even begin to imagine what he’s been going through. The sticking point for him will be the impact Joe’s career is having on their children.

    There are some serious conversations to be had, and maybe Joe will be ready to ride off into the sunset and live a life of anonymity. She’s sure as hell deserved it at this point.
