Supriya Ganesh once again addressed their exit from The Pitt, following the show’s creative decision to write her out. In a recent interview, she expressed gratitude for the fan support during her 2-year run on the series.
Supriya Ganesh is ‘so grateful’ for The Pitt after exit
Ganesh, who played Dr. Samira Mohan in The Pitt for two seasons, appreciated the fan support for her character. While she acknowledged that her time on the show ended, she was nonetheless sad about it. Variety broke the news about her departure two months ago. At the time, they also revealed that Ayesha Harris’ Dr. Parker Ellis was upped to series regular for Season 3.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the 28-year-old actress said, “I’m so grateful for the support, and I feel like there were so many people who really loved her and really, really loved what she represented and the role she had to play.”
She continued, “But, you know, all good things come to an end. I think that is the thing that saddens me the most. I’m gonna be losing this community of people who really loved her and saw a part of themselves in her.”
Her response comes one month after she shared her initial reaction to the news that she would not return for the third installment. While interacting with Variety at the Gold Gala red carpet, she described the fan reactions to her exit as “surreal.” The actress added that after she saw her name trend on X (formerly Twitter), she decided to take a break from it and “go outside.”
Ganesh further stated that she did not follow the chatter surrounding her exit, but received heartwarming messages from fans. She then admitted her surprise at the love fans had for her character and the depth of her relatability with them, adding, “that’s what I’m going to miss.”
The actress’s exit marked the Emmy-winning show’s latest cast shakeup. Previously, Tracy Ifeachor, who played Dr. Heather Collins, left The Pitt after Season 1 and ahead of Season 2. Additionally, Sepideh Moafi joined as Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi in the sophomore installment.
